15 Lakh Jobs to be created with First Mobile Manufacturing Electronics cluster in India

Tirupati | Oct 23, 2015: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Shri Venkateswara Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Hub in Tirupati today. Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Nirmala Sitaraman, Governor ESL Narasimhan and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were present on this occasion to launch the country’s first mobile manufacturing electronics cluster.

The Hub is expected to create more than 10,000 jobs within a year and contribute at least 5% of the all-India target of 15 lakh jobs by the year 2019, a press release by Indian Cellular Association said earlier. Foxconn has already begun operations in Andhra Pradesh for manufacturing brands such as Xiomi and Gionee. Other significant brands like Micromax, UTL (Karbonn) and Celkon would be starting their manufacturing operations soon, the release further said.

The PM said that the centre has taken a set of measures in the area of human resources in the state with emphasis on IIT, IIM, IIIT (Indian Institute of Information Technology), AIIMS, NIT, Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research, Central and Petroleum University. Observing that the youth of Andhra Pradesh have made a name for themselves as professionals on foreign shores, he said they must try to obtain complete benefit of the Centre’s startup initiative.

Speaking at the launch, the CM expressed confidence that Andhra Pradesh will lead a new economic revolution in the country and urged the PM to ‘hand-hold’ the state as it enhanced its capabilities to desirable levels.

This move is being seen by industry analysts as a key starting point towards creating indigenous job opportunities in tier 2 & 3 cities as well. Creation of such mobile clusters will not only employ people in the manufacturing space, it will lead to more opportunities for entrepreneurship and also create a space for domestic ancillary industries.

Such initiatives by the government will create the much needed jobs for freshers as well as various admin level jobs in the mobile industry. To tap such opportunities, candidates need a robust platform such as India’s No.1 Pre-Screening Company, MeraJob.
