3 Interview Questions about the Indian Budget
Imagine you go for an interview for an IT job but the interviewer has been reading about the Budget announcement. After asking you technical questions regarding your field he suddenly decides to test your general knowledge.
Of course, as a programmer, or a sales person, or a banking executive, or any other professional, you are not being hired for your GK. But, you want to perform better than others who are applying for the same role and it’s better if you can answer some questions about the budget.
Here are three common questions you should be ready for. The answers are such that you can use it for almost any budget, but it is always better to actually read the papers and stay up-to-date.
Q. Do you know the main features of the budget that was presented recently?
The government has to balance the expectations of the people with the needs of a government. So the budget has tried to increase the number of people who are taxable while trying to reduce the amount of tax. Additionally they have imposed taxes on luxury expenditures while trying to bring reduction in cost of basic goods. And a lot of welfare schemes have been announced to help the weakest and poorest sections of society and help improve their living conditions.
Q. What would you focus on if you were finance minister?
If I were the finance minister I would aim for only 2 things – increase jobs and decrease inflation. It is important to provide livelihood for our young population and engage them in productive roles. And then it is important for inflation to be controlled and reduced so that the spending power of all citizens can go up and wealth can be distributed.
Q. Do you think this is a good budget?
Budgets should be judged at the end of the year and not the beginning. This budget has many bright steps and everyone hopes that they will bring positive change. We can always say things should be better, but depending on the nation’s need this budget just needs to be good enough to allow citizens to succeed.
