Diary of a Jobseeker- Day 1

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” asked Alice

“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.

“I don’t much care where—-“said Alice.

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

Dear Diary,

I pretty much feel like Alice now. But wait I am not Alice, I am Alisha. I’ve just finished my Graduation and Im looking for a job. I do not know what kind of job Im looking for because I’ve never thought of my goal yet. I searched on  the internet about definition of goal and the best one I came across read,“ A goal is a dream with deadline”. So, right now my only dream is to get a job and I give myself a deadline of next one month.

I am writing this diary because I am huge fan of Carrie Bradshaw, a character played by Sarah Jessica Parker. I love it how Carrie maintained her journal and I thought to myself that I must record my journey of finding my first job so that it can help other active jobseekers in some or the other way.

In order to fulfil my goal, I have to build my CV and to write a good CV, not just any, as one of my classmate’s Rishika told me that the CV is a selling document and the product it is going to sell will be my skills to the potential employer. Rishika also told me to keep my CV consistent with the job I’m going to apply for. That means I may have to tailor my CV for different jobs. Let me try my hands on building my CV now.

After struggling for two hours…

Phew..and I complained of my college assignments. This CV writing turned out to be a mortal combat so I turned to internet for help again. Thanks CERN for giving us three W’s. I found an interesting site called and it talks about this concept of Smartprofile and the best thing is that I just have to give some information over phone and Voila ! My CV a.k.a SmartProfile will be ready. There was also a number that I could give a missed call to and someone will call me back.

So let me give a missed call while I write these words .My keypad just finished punching 1800-3000-3399. Let’s wait and see if I get any call. The best thing about this missed call thing is that I can save on my already descending phone balance amount. While the inflation is  sky high, my pocket money is witnessing it’s all time low.

Oh…my phone is flashing. I guess it’s Team Mera Job responding to my missed call. Looks like Alice has found out which way she must go.

See you later
