What should I do if I reach late for a job interview?12-05-2016 / 10:53 am - Interview Tips - 0 Comments
Reaching late for a job interview is certainly a bad note for you to start on. At all costs, you must seek to avoid such a situation. The best way to do that is to spend some time prepping for your interview. However, if you find yourself confronted with certain unavoidable circumstances (despite your best efforts), here’s what you can do:
- As soon as you realise that you will be late, let your interviewer know (over a phone call or email). Also let him/her know what your estimated time of arrival will be.
- Once you reach, sit down, relax and gather your thoughts (rather than behaving or speaking in a hurried and flustered manner).
- Tell your interviewer why you got delayed. Try to be as genuine as possible.
- Now that the discussion of your delay is out of the way, give the job interview your best shot so that the interviewer can overlook the fact that you were late and can take notice of your skills and abilities.
